What is The Keyhoe Report, and why does it have such a funny name?
The Keyhoe Report is named after Major Donald E. Keyhoe, U.S.M.C.—a pioneer in the investigation of UFOs. Not a charlatan, a dogmatic skeptic, or an uncritical believer, he was someone who took them seriously without presuming to dispose of all sightings as misperceptions of mundane phenomenon. Because of his early efforts, the investigation of UFOs—whatever they really are, and however many different answers the question of what they really are has—is a slightly less loony effort today.
We like Major Keyhoe’s spirit so much that we think it’s a good one to apply to anomalies in general.
The Keyhoe Report covers a wide variety of overlapping subjects—anomalies, paranormal, science, religion, technology, eschatology, and skepticism. All things linked by their potential to overturn deeply held and mistaken beliefs, along with technologies or events that threaten or promise to change the world, is our territory. We cover "strange" without snickering—but not without humor.
Here, the flying saucer phenomenon is also a symbol for the kinds of mystery that can lead to revolutionary insight. And the human interest in that potential, which Major Keyhoe had, lies behind the name of this site, rather than an exclusive interest in flying saucers.
In short, this site reflects the eclecticism of being interestingly human, with respect for the liberty which makes being that way possible.
Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware!)
The Keyhoe Report does not necessarily—and cannot possibly—agree with or endorse all the numerous, myriad, and competing claims made and content posted on the websites linked to from The Keyhoe Report. True, false, good, bad, or ugly, The Keyhoe Report provides links to these sites in one convenient location so that visitors, researchers, and extraterrestrials incognito can conduct their own research, form their own opinions, and reach their own conclusions free of charge.
Other Things You Might Want To Know
• This is site version 3.0.
• The Keyhoe Report does not do 9/11 or faked moon landing conspiracies.
• This site is not archived. Yet.
• Content is updated daily. Usually.
• Link section links are listed alphabetically by the first letter of the site’s title. The Keyhoe Report does not discriminate against definite articles; if the website creator thought enough of the word "the" to include it as part of the site’s title, then that is how it will be alphabetized here. Thus, look under "T" for "The Debris Field," and not under "D." Similarly, proper names are listed alphabetically by the first letter of the first person’s name. Thus, "Stanton Friedman" would be found under "S," not under "F."
• If you want to know where The Keyhoe Report stands on issues of anomalism and skepticism, you can find a position statement here.
